چکیده

Water pollution caused by toxic elements is one of the most important environmental problems in the world. Heavy metals are toxic to human and dangerous for the environment. The objectives of this study were: the effects of chelating agents on heavy metals extraction from polluted water were carried out to examine. In different concentrations : 0.01, 0.05, 0.1 mg/l of Chelating agents: Ethylenediamine tetra acetate (EDTA), oxalic acid (OA) and citric acid (CA) were tested respectively . The effects of operating parameters, such as pH and extraction time were examined. The results showed that the extraction ability for mercury and copper from the polluted water decreased as follows: OA > CA > EDTA. Removal of metals was dependent on the concentration of extracting agent and raised with increasing concentration of chelating agents. the rate of metals removal were very rapid during first 50 min, and the removal decreased when the pH value of the solution increasing.

Enhanced electrokinetic remediation of cadmium contaminated soils by chelating agents

Electrokinetic soil remediation by electroosmosis and ionic migration is restricted to soluble substances. At a higher pH, the soil particles sorb more heavy metals than at a lower pH and the precipitation reactions of heavy metals are promoted. Both mechanisms make heavy metals immobile, rendering cleanup more difficult and electrokinetic extraction inefficient. In this study, the effectivenes...

Pressure-assisted cyclic washing of heavy-metal-contaminated sediments

Remediation of heavy-metal-contaminated sediment is often hampered by the availability of heavy metals to the added chemical agents because the heavy metals are often shielded by the sediment matrix. Effective heavy-metal extraction technique becomes an important factor in enhancing the treatment efficiency. A novel extraction/washing technique utilizing chelating agent and elevated pressure in...

Correction: Efficiency of non-ionic surfactants - EDTA for treating TPH and heavy metals from contaminated soil

Introduction of fuel hydrocarbons and inorganic compounds (heavy metals) into the soil, resulting in a change of the soil quality, which is likely to affect use of the soil or endangering public health and ground water. This study aimed to determine a series of parameters to remediation of TPH and heavy metals contaminated soil by non-ionic surfactants- chelating agents washing process. In this...

Magnetic EDTA: coupling heavy metal chelators to metal nanomagnets for rapid removal of cadmium, lead and copper from contaminated water.

Attachment of EDTA-like chelators to carbon coated metal nanomagnets results in a magnetic reagent for the rapid removal of heavy metals from solutions or contaminated water by three orders of magnitude to concentrations as low as microg L(-1).

Effect of chelating agents on heavy metal extraction from contaminated soils

In the present study shacking and incubation experiments were carried out in order to evaluate the changes in heavy metal solubility in the studied soils by addition of different concentration of Ethylene dinitrilo tetra acetic acid (EDTA), Diethylene triamine penta acetic acid (DTPA), and Nitrilo tri acetic acid (NTA). The effects of EDTA, DTPA and NTA application on solubility of Copper (Cu),...
